Beef Brisket
My first introduction to a Beef Brisket was while I was visiting at a friends house. She has put her brisket in the oven and while we were talking, the aroma started to slowly move through the entire home. It was amazing!!
Here is her recipe which calls for a 5lb brisket. I work with a smaller one and cut the ingredients in half.
You will need: 5 lb brisket
2 pkgs onion soup mix
1- 64 oz kechup
garlic, fresh or powder
salt & pepper
1-2 tablespoons of liquid smoke
Place your glass dish or corning ware on cookie sheet. Some use a foil roasting pan- no clean up :) Add soup mix to dish and 2 cups of hot water and stir until soup dissolves.
Add garlic, salt, pepper and liquid smoke....stir well
Add 64oz bottle of ketchup, stir. Fill bottle halfway with water and add to ketchup mixture.
Add brisket and make sure both sides are covered with the sauce. Let sit overnight for best flavor.
Bake turning every 45 minutes making sure brisket remains covered with sauce about 2-4 hours depending on desired texture.
